In May of 2020, my Vegas Unfiltered piece SIN CITY SHUTDOWN asked the big post-pandemic question "What can be done to lure people back…and will we see a return to the perception of Las Vegas as a value destination?" It was followed in February 2021 with SMALL SPACES - TOWERING TALENT which declared "Intimate venues are the hot ticket to Sin City's rebirth."
Despite the opportunity to right a tilting ship, major Vegas entities are back to gouging your wallet while simultaneously reducing their services. Fortunately, an outlandish comic named Miss Behave has decided to challenge that business model with a new downtown space named Cheapshot Showroom and Discotheque. It's everything that (and more than) you could hope for in an exciting new nightspot. For a whole lot less.
You may remember MISS BEHAVE GAMESHOW, the uproarious pop-culture spoof that played at Bally's "Back Room" for several years. Sharp, uncensored, and almost painfully funny, Miss Behave Gameshow reveled in its cheapness. The gorgeous former LIAISON Nightclub by Victor Drai was dressed down with hand-written cardboard signs and super-shoddy sets, boldly skewering the city's penchant for "upscale luxury". It's no wonder that Caesars Entertainment eventually showed them the door.
Amy Saunders, the limitless creator of Miss Behave's persona, is not the type to follow convention. The door that closed on her face was an excellent motivator, which is why CHEAPSHOT was created. Sandwiched among super-successful clubs and restaurants on "Fremont East", this self-described showroom/discotheque continues Saunder's war on gouging, promising great entertainment and libations at price points rarely seen.
Hugu Desmarais welcomes you to CHEAPSHOT
In order to help make her dream a reality, Saunders partnered with downtown businessman Ryan Doherty. Founder of Corner Bar Management, Doherty and his company have backed successful spots like Downtown's Commonwealth and Park on Fremont, along with several venues at AREA 15. Relentless in his desire to create the unique and off-the-wall, the handsome entrepreneur became a perfect backer for Saunder's concept.
"Our city was built on audacious architecture, epic good times, and legendary partying; it runs through our veins. We take our legacy seriously, continuing to blend the glam and glitz of old-school Vegas culture with the grit of Downtown. More than just extraordinary venues, we offer extraordinary experiences. Our promise to ourselves and our guests are these three simple tenets: A pride in service. A demand for quality. A curiosity for originality." - Corner Bar Management
CHEAPSHOT will soon be joined by WE ALL SCREAM, yet another outlandish neighbor from Corner Bar Management. We'll tell you all about it soon.
Stroll through the inconspicuous doors of CHEAPSHOT (look for the neon rainbow heart in the window) and enter a lush Parisian cabaret. Gorgeous woods, antique chandeliers, and lots of red drapes set a mood completely apart from the world outside. Intimate seating ensures that you'll make a new friend or two. Step up to the beautiful bar and order your favorite cocktail, then hunker down for Miss Behave's MAVERICKS, the first production from the CHEAPSHOT creative team.
Currently performing Thursday through Saturday at 8 pm, Miss Behave's MAVERICKS is an adults-only assemblage of laughter, striptease, music, acrobatics...and a chicken with a Hula hoop. The less you know going in, the more fun you'll have. Saunders describes the show as "world-class comedy, burlesque, circus, singing, sex, and surprises. We're not reinventing the wheel, but we're definitely driving the car differently."
MAVERICKS cranks out nonstop talent at a fast-paced 90 minutes (with intermission). You truly never know what to expect, with each act leaving you baffled, breathless, or perhaps both. Hosted by Miss Behave herself, the opening-night cast included Cirque du Soleil's own Adam Kuchler, soulful singer Trice B Phantom Magnetiq, burlesque artist Julie Atlas Muz, comic aerialist/acrobat Hugo Desmarais, and Vegas legend Alexandria Beauregard. America's Got Talent superstar Tape Face made a surprise guest appearance, and more famous faces are expected to pop in during the weeks and months ahead.
Miss Behave's MAVERICKS "Sexy Jesus" Vegas
Miss Behave is proud to boast that MAVERICKS currently costs only $25. Or as she says "We made the tickets cheap so you can drink more. The same price as 9 minutes 13 seconds of a Big Circus Show on Strip! The same price as 11 mins 37 secs of a Big Variety Show on Strip! Exceptional entertainment at Downtown prices. Cheaper, gooder, funner."
After the show, CHEAPSHOT transforms into a disco, complete with a dance floor and deejay. Mingle with the performers, give your platform shoes a workout, or just sit in the corner getting shit-faced. It's all good at CHEAPSHOT, an absolute haven for the no-judgment crowd.
